He's Here!

Our son safely arrived almost four weeks ago! I'm sorry to anyone reading this who did not know and has been anxiously wondering if everything turned out well. He was born via scheduled c-section with no complications. We were surrounded by the same team that delivered Isabella - same OB, midwife, NICU nurse, and labor and delivery nurse. We are so thankful for these women and cannot imagine our children's birth stories without them.

One of my most frequent prayers leading up to his birth was that he would cry quickly, and he did. His wail of indignation was one of the sweetest sounds I have ever heard and such a drastic difference from the silence that followed Isabella's birth.

Three days later, we took him home!!! Our hearts were ready to burst with joy as I was wheeled out of the hospital with him in my arms then we buckled him into his newly installed car seat, frequently consulting the manual to make sure the straps were correctly aligned.

He continues to be healthy, a fantastic eater (he regained birth weight within a week and has already gained two pounds!), beautiful, and generally content. Isabella is never far from our minds and our son looks just like his sister. This similarity is generally welcome and occasionally jarring. We are incredibly grateful to have him at home, wonder at what life would be like with two at home, and marvel at the abundant gift he is to us.
